Yesterday, we went on a treasure trail in Paignton with the local History Home Education Group. New families to meet, lovely people! Thank you so much for organising!
Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures. The boys have been playing with the camera ;(.
We were given some clues and directions on paper and had to find the right trail across Paignton. As shown on the picture, there were several cities mentioned. After finding a clue, we had to cross one of them (the answer was one of the cities). At the end, you should have only one location left. Now you have found the captain's hidden stash! You can give the correct answer online and maybe even win some pounds!
We didn't make it to the end though :(
Levi was all wet, after stepping in the water on the beach.
And Adam. Adam was sad. Very sad. He had been skyping on Wednesday with his best friend for the first time since we came here. And all of a sudden he was homesick.
We were overlooking the sea and he said, with tears in his eyes: you know, they are there and I can't even see them. I want to go back to Holland. I will save money and buy a ticket. Right away!
It didn't help (at this time) telling him that we would be going in a few weeks.
He wanted to go home, or...he wanted to quit doing the trail and visit new friends that live in Paignton (and who were also doing the trail). We made that work (so sorry for not finishing it!) and he/they had a good time with their new friends. Of course, the visit was too short ;), but we'll be back! :)
Adam is fine now. Like he was te whole time before. Maybe the skyping thing is confusing for him. He hadn't been complaining at all, about living here (he is a complainer at times, but not about living here. So he does feel free to complain about anything to us ;))). But talking to his friends made him say that he is bored all the time and doensn't go out at all (??) and had to watch all these stupid under-seven-BBC-programs...(he LOVES them!!).
